Yeah, that's right. Only four hours with kids tomorrow and then FREEDOM until Tuesday! Very pleasing. And for the first time ever (as far as I know), we actually have plans for Memorial Day. We will be eating burgers and drinking Michigan wines and beers with some visiting scientists from Sardinia.
We have been eating (and drinking) very well recently. Last night we had yet another impromptu cookout at wine club. It was beastly hot, but the bugs stayed away and the food was yummy. Our host provided asparagus wrapped in pancetta, grilled, and served with a dijon dressing. He also grilled mortadella packets filled with goat cheese. There was also homemade apple strudel and strawberries. We are planning on doing it again next week, and I think people will step it up even more. The wines were pretty good too--lots of roses, perfect for the hot night.
We've also been busting butt. The plants have all been carried out of the basement, a huge task when you have THREE BILLION of them! My scratches are starting to heal, but my knees still hurt and the bug bites still itch. Now I need to do all the dishes that have been piled up, wash all the clothes, sweep the basement out...ugh. No rest for the wicked. Ever.
Have a great weekend, and congrats to all my GA friends for making it through another school year! Send good thoughts northward since we still have three weeks left :(
