Woke up today with a sense of optimism....first time in a while that's happened. I was so touched by how happy people were last night--the tears, the shouting, the making fun of the pundits on Fox News. I hope my students were watching so they could see what happens when you work hard and hold on to your dreams.
Hopefully I can maintain this feeling throughout parent-teacher conferences today. I have a sneaking suspicion that it might start to go south around six or so.
